The Victorian Government offers a variety of concessions and benefits to assist with payment of energy bills. Holders of a Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card or DVA Gold Card may be eligible. To apply for an energy concession (other than the Life Support or Medical Cooling Concessions) or to update your concession details, print, complete and return this form: Sumo Concession Form. Annual Electricity Concession
The Annual Electricity Concession provides eligible concession cardholders with a 17.5 percent discount on household electricity bills all year round.
Winter Gas Concession
The Winter Gas Concession provides eligible concession cardholders with a 17.5 percent discount off mains gas bills from 1 May to 31 October each year.
Life Support Concession
The Life Support Concession provides a quarterly discount on electricity bills where a household member uses an eligible life support machine. Application forms need to be completed and signed by your doctor, nurse or hospital social worker confirming your use of a life support machine.
Medical Cooling Concession
The Medical Cooling Concession provides a 17.5 percent discount on summer electricity costs for cardholders where a member of the family has a medical condition that affects the body’s ability to regulate temperature. This concession is available from 1 November to 30 April each year. The Medical Cooling Concession is given in addition to the Annual Electricity Concession. Utility Relief Grant Scheme
Customers who are unable to pay their energy bills due to a temporary financial crisis can apply for the Utility Relief Grant Scheme. Assistance may be provided to low-income households suffering a short-term financial crisis (i.e. within the last 12 months) who are unable to pay for a current utility account and who are at risk of disconnection. Service to Property Charge Concession – Discontinued 1st of December 2023
From 1st December 2023, the Service to Property Charge Concession is discontinued.
The Service to Property Charge Concession provides a discount on the electricity service charge where a household has very low electricity usage. The usage charge must be less than the service charge.
Controlled Load Electricity Concession – Discontinued 1st of December 2023
From 1st December 2023, the Controlled Load Concession is discontinued.
The Controlled Load Electricity Concession provides a 13 percent reduction on controlled load usage charges. The concession is only available to concession cardholders who are charged a controlled load tariff for separately metered electric hot water or slab heating.
Electricity Transfer Fee Waiver – Discontinued 1st of December 2023
From 1st December 2023, the Electricity Transfer Fee waiver is discontinued.
The Electricity Transfer Fee Waiver provides a full waiver of any fee that is normally payable to retailers when cardholders move house.
